History:
Acts 2:42 says that the early Christians “devoted
themselves to the apostle’s teaching and fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and prayer.” They
met in homes as small groups. John Wesley, the father
of Methodism, helped return to this small group
philosophy, and today there is a renewed interest
in the use of small groups. What is a Wesley Group?
A Wesley Group is a group of six to twelve people
who meet together for fellowship, study, prayer
and outreach. Every group is different and has a
“personality” of its own. Who can be a Group Leader?
A leader is not a theologian, a therapist, or someone
wiser and older. A leader is a person with a heart
for God, a love for people, and a commitment to
small groups.
