"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only..."James 1:22
At St. Peter's our goal is to be doers.
At St. Peter's, we aspire to be a church of doers. Service to others is not just a choice but a Christian way of life. With such a diverse church in terms of talent, experience and backgrounds, you can see why we offer such a variety of ways to be involved.
We believe our service area begins "between our feet", that is, right where we stand. By encouraging each other, we grow as disciples and are enabled and encouraged to "go forth" into our communities. These communities are local, state, national and indeed the world itself. On our own or in cooperation with others, we strive to make the world a better place.
God encourages us, challenges us and gives us a purpose in life that is worth giving everything we have for. There is nothing quite like learning more about God while in service to Him and others.
Service Opportunities
Here are some suggestions for plugging in right away!
Greeters & Welcome Corner
VolunteersGreeting visitors is an important part of the hospitality ministry of the church. Church greeters and welcome corner volunteers are a part of the ministry team and form part of the first impression that a visitor receives. We are in need of volunteers at all 3 services. Volunteers serve on a rotating basis at a time slot of their choice. Contact Shelly Albright at sabright@stpeters-umc.org for more information.
Communion Stewards
Communion Stewards are responsible for the preparation of the bread, wine and the communion ware for use in the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. We are in need of a few communion stewards to alternate throughout the year. Stewards will serve communion on one or more of the first Sundays of each month depending upon how many stewards are on the list. Contact Debbie Ferrugio at dferrugio@stpeters-umc.org for more information.

Ken and Lorraine Enright started the Enright Flight Ministries over 50 years ago. They carried on untiringly until Ken's death in 2007. Their son, John and his wife, Kendra were really piloting the mission for a number of years so, fortunately, it will continue under their committed service. They enjoy hearing from members of their supporting churches

Kafakumba - Zambia
Nate Steury
This note focuses on ministries started by the Enrights that continue today. Among them were: A church without a home. John Enright, who was killed in a car accident last December started a church in 2000. They had to move out of the building 2 years ago and have been meeting in a school. They have bought a plot of land. They want to build a shelter then have the church buy and build the walls.
There is a clinic without a staff- A village called Baluba is in need of medical facilities. John built a building 13 years ago and turned it over to the government. Nothing has been done since then. The Steurys are working with a doctor in the Congo and US Physicians who are interested in finishing the project. There are other projects mentioned. If interested, contact: Nate.Steury@ Kafakumba.org
We support Operation Christmas Child year round. For More information:
International Ministry Updates - March 2019
Liberia- Lena and Johannes Ebner
Finally we have good news from the Ebners. They are in their new house with regular electricity (5-6 hours a day) and running water. Imagine! They can flush their toilet without first running to a well. The children and they are healthy and well. To get to their ministry site, they had to cross 3 rivers, take a dug out tree canoe and 2 motorbikes. Their teammates run their mission as a business and are able to lease land and build a house that the Ebners rent from them. Even though the nearest gas station and grocery store are 1½ hours away, they feel so blessed.
Zambia- Kafakumba Nate Steury and the Enrights
Work continues for the local people in the Kafakumba industries:
Aloe Vera- 10 acres are grown on the property. It is grown, harvested, processed and bottled there thus providing jobs for dozens of individuals. They sell 3000 bottles a month.
Bees and Honey- They have built 80,000 swarm boxes and hives and hope to harvest 300 tons of honey. 10,000 villagers benefit from honey sales.
Fish farming- Tilapia
They have the largest tilapia hatchery in Zambia. Each month 200,000 fingerlings are grown and sold to local out growers who then raise the fish and market them.
Livestock
Kafakumba has 230 head of cattle. The oldest are 2-3 years old and are being bred. The center controls 10,000 acres on which the cattle graze freely each day. At night the cattle are gathered into a central location to prevent poaching.
Wells-This is a community service where a team from Kafakumba accompanies the well drilling rig to local communities where they offer hope and health through clean water.
Cuba- Puerta de Golpe- Eduardo Murga
Alonso de Rojas- Arturo Silot Labaceno
There is a travel agency in Ft. Lauderdale that ships items door to door to Cuba. Recently we shipped flatware and industrial light bulbs. The town has not been able to replace streetlights. The street was dark, and people were afraid to go to church. When 4 of us ate at Alonso de Rojas, they had to borrow knives, forks and spoons for us to use. Now they will have enough. We take so much for granted.

"SALTY SERVICE MINISTRIES"
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

Adult Music Ministry
Wednesday Nights: 7:00 PM in Sanctuary.
The Chancel Choir performs every Sunday morning and for special services during the year. Their repertoire ranges from Gospel, to classical, contemporary and everything in between. During Easter and Christmas all members of the church are invited to participate in the Easter and Christmas Choir, where special music of the season or a Cantata is performed. This Choir is the backbone of the music program for our church and is open to all, from the trained vocalist to the shower singer. Remember the Psalmist, “Make a joyful noise!” This group practices in the sanctuary.
St. Peter’s praise team practices on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary.
Our Praise and Worship Team leads our contemporary service. Their job is to help the congregation actively participate in the worship service. Whether it be a brand new praise song that you have heard on Christian radio, or a remake of an old hymn, excitement and praise will be the key element to it. This group is an auditioned group. Involvement is subject to openings and interview and audition with the leader. Contact Copeland Davis
Thursday Nights: 6:00pm in the Sanctuary.
The Bells of St. Peter’s utilize handbells for praise, performing a variety of music ranging from classic hymns to more modern pieces. We currently have a two Octave choir, but would love to expand. There are opportunities for beginners as well as advanced musicians.

Pathway to God
Prayer Chain
Pathway to God is a ministry of intercessory prayer. Prayer Team members pray faithfully and unceasingly on behalf of those who place requests with us. The requests come from members of the congregation as well as from those outside of St. Peter's. Anyone desiring prayer for a concern or burden can request it by filling out a prayer request form found in the racks on the back of the pews in the sanctuary. A request can also be made by calling the church office at 793-5712 or sending an email to pray@stpeters-umc.org. You can reserve the right to anonymity.
We welcome anyone who would like to join us in this vital church ministry. It involves your time each day to lift up all those in need of prayer. As requests for prayers are received, they will be sent via email to you. Please contact the church office at the phone number listed above or email above if you would like to join the Team.
Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God's peace which passeth all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7
Together in God’s work in His kingdom.
